How to Get Listed on Best-Of Lists and the Pages AI Answers Cite

Get listed is BlogAmplify's list of third-party pages worth getting your business onto: best-of lists, comparisons, alternatives pages, resource lists and media articles. It finds them in data already gathered for you, leaves out competitors and platforms, drafts a short pitch you send from your own email, and counts a listing only when the page links to your site.

What Get listed does

Some of the pages that rank for your searches, and that AI assistants cite when they answer your customers' questions, are lists an editor keeps by hand. Being on them puts your name where people and AI answers already look. Finding those pages, working out which ones would ever include you and keeping track of who you asked is the slow part, so Get listed does it for you.

  1. New

    Moved by: BlogAmplify

A page from your data reads as a list or article an editor curates, on a site that isn't a competitor, vendor or platform. The row says why it matters and what to ask for.

  2. Pitched

    Moved by: You

You send the drafted email from your own address and mark the page pitched. It is read every 3 days for 90 days.

  3. Listed

Moved by: A link on the page

A read finds a link to your site and the page moves to listed (you can also mark it yourself). It is read again every 30 days, and a link that disappears is recorded on the row, not hidden.

A page you mark "Not relevant" never comes back on its own (Restore puts it back). Each row shows why the page matters in plain sentences, such as the search it ranked for or the question an AI answer cited it for, and what to ask the editor.

Where the pages come from

Get listed reads what BlogAmplify already gathers for your website: the research behind your articles, your AI visibility checks and, for local businesses, local search's best-of searches. Once a month it also looks up the pages that link to your competitors. So every page on the board is there because of a search, a question or a competitor that matters to you.

SourceWhat it isPlan
Google results for your articlesThe pages in Google's top 10 for each article's search that we read when we researched it (up to 5 an article), for articles from the last year. The row says the page was #N "when we researched your article for that search", never as today's rank.Every plan
AI answers for your tracked questionsThe pages AI answers cite as sources for the questions tracked for you, from your latest 4 finished checks (none older than 28 days). Questions that name your business are skipped: their answers cite your own pages.Growth + AI Visibility
Pages that link to your competitorsOnce every 30 days, the pages that link to at least 2 of the competitors in your Website Info (up to 8) and not to your site, in your language. A page linking to only 2 of them must also be about your field, so two broad competitors listed together somewhere else don't fill the board.Every plan, with 2 competitors' websites
Local best-of searchesFor businesses local search applies to, the results of up to 3 "best <service> in <place>" searches a month, the ones people in your area make.Every plan, local businesses

The board is rebuilt every 7 days, and on Growth + AI Visibility also after each finished AI visibility check (at most once a day). A rebuild adds at most 20 new pages, so the list stays short enough to work through, and it never touches what you did: your states, pitches and the reads of each page stay as they are.

Which pages make the board

A page needs a person who decides what goes on it. So it must be a specific article, not a homepage, an archive, a search page or a file, and its title or address must read as one of these:

KindHow it is recognisedWhat you ask for
Best-of lists"Best", "Top 10" or "12 recommended" in the title or address, or a roundup of tools, shops or services for a jobAsk the editor to add you to the list, with one line on what you do differently.
Comparisons"vs", "versus", "compared" or "comparison"Ask the author to include you in the comparison, with the facts they'd need to compare you fairly.
Alternatives pages"alternatives", "similar to" or "apps like"Ask the editor to add you as an alternative, with one line on who you suit best.
Resource lists"resources", "toolkit" or "list of tools"Suggest your most useful page for their list of resources.
Media articlesAny article on a known news or magazine siteOffer the writer a useful fact or story from your business for their next piece on this subject.

New pages are ordered by how many of your questions and AI assistants cite them, weighted by each assistant's reach and how much each question matters, more when the answer leaves you out, by how high they rank for searches, weighted by how many people make them, and by how many of your competitors they link to. Domain Rating plays no part in the order. For the sites of the top 10 new pages, the board shows it for information, as Domain Rating by Ahrefs.

A page nobody acted on that stops coming up in your data is hidden after 60 days and then removed. Pages you pitched, marked or turned down stay.

What's left out, and the Left out tab

A list on a site that sells what you sell is there to put its own products first, so it won't add you, and a platform has no editor to ask. Those sites are left out before anything shows:

Left outWhich sites
Your own sitesYour website, its blog and your account's other websites. These aren't listed on the Left out tab.
CompetitorsThe competitors in your Website Info or AI visibility settings, sites AI answers treat as your competitors, and sites you marked as a competitor or vendor.
VendorsSites that sell or make what you offer, direct competitors included, as our own check sorts them: their lists put their own products first.
PlatformsMarketplaces, review sites, social networks, search engines and public bodies: there is no editor to ask, so you add your profile there yourself.

Sites the rules can't place are sorted automatically before their pages show, and a site that hasn't been sorted is never shown.

The pitch you send

When you ask for one, Get listed drafts a short email to the page's editor: a subject of up to 80 characters and 40 to 170 words, written for the kind of page it is.

  • Facts only from you. It uses your profile and your site's own pages, never blog posts, and leaves out every sentence about prices, trials, discounts or codes, since offers change and a profile can be out of date.
  • Checked before you see it. No offer to pay, sponsor, send gifts or swap links; no talk of rankings or Domain Rating; no numbers your facts don't give; no links except your homepage. A draft that fails the checks is written again once, and then a plain template is used instead.
  • Sent by you. Copy it into your own email, adjust it if you like, send it and mark the page pitched. BlogAmplify never sends anything.

The page is read before the pitch is drafted (or marked pitched), so a link that is already there is recorded as where you started. Up to 20 drafts a day per website.

How a listing is confirmed

BlogAmplify confirms a listing only when the page has a link to your site: any address on your domain, with or without www, a subdomain, or your Shopify store's myshopify.com address. Links in comment sections never count. If the page names your business without a link, the row asks "Is this you?". Your yes moves the page to Listed as your confirmation, but a name alone is never counted as a new listing: only a link is.

PageHow often it is read
PitchedEvery 3 days for 90 days after you pitch
ListedEvery 30 days, to see the link is still there
Not read yetRead once to record where you started (a link already there is never a new listing)
Check nowRead at once when you ask, up to 10 pages a day per website

Reads are polite: at most 10 pages a night per website and 2 from any one site, as BlogAmplifyBot, following each site's robots.txt. Platforms such as Google, Yelp, G2, Tripadvisor, Trustpilot, Amazon and social networks are never read. A page that can't be read (blocked, behind a bot check, or built in the browser) changes nothing, and one that answers "not found" on 2 reads at least 7 days apart is marked gone and no longer read.

What Get listed never does

  • It never sends an email, on your behalf or anyone else's.
  • It never buys, sells, swaps or places links, and its pitches never offer money, gifts or a link back.
  • It never counts a mention without a link, or a link that was there before you asked.
  • It never reads platforms, or pages a site's robots.txt asks bots to leave alone.
  • It never orders pages by Domain Rating, and never shows a competitor's list as a chance.
  • It never promises a listing: the editor decides, and the board records what happened.

With the assistant and connected AI apps

The in-app assistant reads the board and the Left out tab, drafts a pitch, checks a page now, marks a page pitched, listed or not relevant, and records your call on a site, with Undo for each change.

AI apps you connect to BlogAmplify, such as Claude, ChatGPT or Cursor, use the same tools. Their Get listed outreach prompt picks the best pages you haven't pitched yet, drafts a pitch for each, shows you every email before anything is sent and marks the ones you sent as pitched. See connecting AI apps for the setup.

Which plans include it

PlanPages on the board
GrowthPages ranking for your articles' searches and pages linking to your competitors, plus local best-of results for local businesses
Growth + AI VisibilityAll of the above, plus the pages AI answers cite for the questions tracked for you
Extra website / Extra website + AI VisibilityThe same as the matching main plan, for that website

On Growth + AI Visibility, the monthly report also counts the pages that started linking to you that month. For why the cited pages matter, read how to rank in ChatGPT and AI visibility tracking. Get listed sits next to local search and Site Health; every feature is on the features page and prices on the pricing page.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get listed on best-of lists?

Find the lists that already rank for your searches, that AI answers cite or that list your competitors, then ask each editor to add you, with one line on what you do differently. Get listed finds those pages, drafts the email and reads the page until a link to your site appears.

Does getting listed help me get mentioned in AI answers?

On Growth + AI Visibility, the board includes the pages AI answers cite as sources for your tracked questions, so a listing puts your name where those answers already look. Nobody can promise an answer will name you, which is why the daily checks keep measuring it.

Is Get listed a backlink outreach tool?

It does the finding and the drafting, not the sending. It never buys, swaps or places links, never sends email and never mails pages in bulk. You send each pitch yourself, and a listing counts only when a link to your site appears on the page.

Why is a page I expected missing from the board?

It may be on a competitor's, vendor's or platform's site: those go to the Left out tab with the reason, and you can put most of them back. Pages also stay off when they aren't a curated list or article, weren't among the top pages we read for your article, scored too low, or stopped coming up in your data.

How do you know I got listed?

Pitched pages are read every 3 days for 90 days and listed pages monthly. Only a link to your site confirms a listing. Your name without a link is shown for you to confirm, and a link that was there before you pitched is the starting point, never a win.

Which plans include Get listed?

Both main plans and extra websites. On Growth, pages come from the searches your articles target, the pages that link to your competitors and, for local businesses, local best-of searches. Growth + AI Visibility adds the pages AI answers cite for the questions tracked for you.

Find the pages worth being on

BlogAmplify publishes an article every day and, from the searches those articles target, builds the list of pages worth getting your business onto, with a pitch drafted whenever you ask and a check for the link.
